Aquatherapy for Managing Stress and Anxiety

Americans are using alternative and complementary therapies, often for stress-related complaints. Patients who used Aquatherapy had a significant improvement in spine mobility and in functional scores and a reduction in the daily duration of pain. Assessment of the long-term effects 9 months after therapy showed continued reduction in pain and drug consumption and improvement in spine mobility among the patients who had spa therapy.

Hot tubs and Hypertension

Canadian Medical Association Journal concludes that immersion in a hot tub for 10 minutes lowers blood pressure in subjects with treated hypertension, but no more than in normotensive control subjects. Spending 10 minutes in a hot tub should be safe for most treated hypertensive patients.

IHTA ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS ELECTED

The International Hot Tub Association held its Annual Meeting on January 10th and elected their officers and directors for the New Year. Bob Lauter from Master Spas is the new President. Mike Dunn from Watkins Manufacturing is the Vice President and Cindi Magray from Spa Manufacturers is the Secretary Treasurer. Directors elected are: Michel Authier, Gecko Alliance; Jeff Bailey, Spring Dance Hot Tubs; John Day, Sloan LED; Don Elkington, Coast Spas Manufacturing; Steve Hammock, Watkins Manufacturing; Jerry Hyland, PoolCorp; Patti Kirsch, Waterway Plastics; Bob Moore, Custom Molded Products; Sue Rogers, Oregon Hot Tubs; Larry Savage, Lawrence R Savage Associates and Howard Smith from Pleatco. The group is excited about 2012 as it begins to plan IHTA's agenda for the year.
